Abstract

An archive of feelings is an emotional whirlwind. It is a way of understanding emotions politically, rooted in cultural frameworks, situated in spatial webs, and unfolding in subjective outcomes. Ann Cvetkovich (feminist philosopher and Director of the Pauline Jewett Institute of Women’s and Gender Studies at Carleton University, Ottawa) begins her argumentation of this unique archive by explaining a series of individual difficulties —an affective breakup, a shift in sexual identity, a thesis in the process of being written— to show the profound entanglement of academic life with personal life and the necessary incorporation of experience into epistemic reflection.
